William Penn Tilton began painting in the late 1960s when living in New York City and studying at Columbia University. His art is particularly influenced by his travels, which began when serving as a Czech linguist in the U.S. military prior to attending university. It was during his time in the military that William met a French woman named Monique, whom he later married. Their adventures - from camping in the Arctic to hiking the Andes in Chile - continue to be reflected in his paintings. In addition to painting, the artist enjoys writing, fly fishing and playing the piano. The artist resides in Arizona.
